Potty training: Day NEVER MIND

So, after two days of cleaning up messes and bribing Liam to sit on the potty...Kurt forwarded me this message from our sister-in-law, and finalist for Favorite Person Ever, Anne:

Absolutely don't waste your time or frustrations unless he is very interested. Go ahead and give it a try for a day or two and if it isn't working, or more importantly, if it is causing anger and/or anxiety...stop and wait for another time when he is more ready. From what I have experienced and heard form others, boys are not usually potty trained until after they are 3. I agree about skipping the little pottys. Sometimes they will be trained on those but scared to go in the big potty so you have to do it all over again on the big one (not cool). We are in the middle of training Evy and, man, it sucks. That's all.
Anne has already potty trained two little boys, and with her combination of stay at home mom knowledge, along with her "I do what I want" attitude about parenting (read: she does what works when it works, for her and her family and doesn't worry so much about what everybody else might think), I pretty much trust her implicitly. She has never led me astray and is always ready to have a girl's back when it comes to making potentially unpopular parenting decisions to suit her family and situation.

So, we decided to back off and wait a little longer. Liam will be ready when he is ready. In the meantime we still read a lot of books about learning to use the potty, and invite him to see what we're doing in there (still not my favorite thing, but whatever). And if we send him to preschool still wearing diapers...so be it.
