Mic check

So, I’m 30.

Ok, that sounded a little grim and dramatic. I’m 30 years old today, and I feel pretty ok about it. It’s nice to feel solidly in a new decade (being “still 29” was starting to feel a little like I was clinging to something), and I figure if Kim Kardashian can be in her 30s, side by side with Britney Spears, then I’m in pretty hot company. On top of which, two of the coolest, smartest ladies I know in real life (Mindy Scott and Michelle Houle) tell me that my 30s are something I just need to get through to make it to my 40s, which they both assure me will be the best decade of my life.

Anyway.
With a birthday in January it makes it a little easier to slack on a New Years Resolution for the first few weeks of the new year and declare that I’m going to be doing something not for the next calendar year, but for the next year of my life. And here it is: in the year that I am 30, I will make time every day to write. This blog is going to serve to help keep me honest—I probably won’t be able to post every single day, but I want to put things out there. I can’t really explain it more than that, but there it is.

The point is, here I am. I’m 30 years old, today, and this begins my year of writing.

Wish me luck.
